David Haznaw has built his career working primarily with real people, those uncomfortable and unfamiliar with the camera and its trappings. Yet, he’s able to create an immediate connection with these folks, to provide a sense of comfort and trust. And by doing so, he’s able to bring his subjects’ stories to life.
“To properly craft someone’s story, you must first appreciate where they’ve been and what they’ve gone through,” David says. “Then, you have to listen. It’s not so much about asking the right questions or telling their story, it’s making them feel comfortable, and allowing them to bring their story to you.”
